Traditionally, Qi Qixi was a time for young women to demonstrate their needlework skills, hoping to gain wisdom and dexterity from Zhinü, the weaver girl. The festival was not just about romantic love but also about celebrating craftsmanship, devotion, and the wish for a better life.

In recent years, however, Qi Qixi has seen a transformation.
